The ‘Sowing Serenity Horticultural Therapy Program’ is being held at the Noosa Day Respite Centre, Wallace Park, Noosaville.

“Horticultural Therapy is a process of using plants and garden related activities to promote well-being of people’s minds, body and spirit”

preparing the gardensThis program benefits people recovering from stroke and heart disease, early stage dementia, physical and intellectual disabilities and those partially sighted. We can also meet the needs of clients in wheelchairs.

 

Schedule of Activities;

16th April – Dividing and replanting potted plants.

23rd April – Planting seedlings into Veggie Beds.

30th April – Growing Potatoes and other fun gardening activities!

7th May – Growing Quick Pick Crops – growing quick & easy crops to pick and eat.

14th May – Composting & Worm Farms – Set up compost bin in garden and look at how worm farm works to produce garden fertilisers.

21st May – Growing Companion Plants – growing plants that benefit the garden and attract good bugs

28th May – Caring for the Veggie Garden – nurturing the veggies, herbs and ornamental gardens

4th June – Growing Herbal Teas – growing healthy teas to enjoy. We’ll have a tea party in the garden!

11th June – Garden Harvest Party – after growing our veggie and herbs we’ll harvest the fresh produce and make delicious foods for a lunch party. Bring along a friend to lunch.

The program is held weekly each Wednesday, commencing at 9.30 am to 11.30am, with morning tea included.

Bookings are essential.

A contribution of $5.00 per participant, per session will assist with covering costs for equipment.
